7/10/20 It has been well over 14 days since the team member who tested positive has worked and all other employees have tested negative to Covid. We have cleaned and reconfigured and will be reopening today with outdoor dining and takeout. We have asked our staff to continue to get tested for Covid on a regular basis as an extra precaution.
7/5/20 In March we made a decision to put ourselves at risk during a pandemic to remain open and feed those in need and serve the public to give our newly opened restaurant a chance of survival. Making this choice we knew the inevitable would happen at some point as we have been informed we have a Covid Positive staff member. Last week one of our front of house employees called out sick, informing us they suspected they might have Covid. We immediately removed that person from the schedule and informed the staff. Since that person had only worked 2 shifts in the previous two weeks where they were the only person working in the front of the house on very slow afternoons, came in contact with very few guests and was socially distant at all times from other staff members, the entire staff felt safe continuing to work. We asked all staff members to get tested at that time as a precaution. All staff members who were able to get tested have reported back negative results. Now that we have confirmation that person has in fact tested positive, as well as employees at the other restaurant they work at, we feel it is necessary to close the doors for a few days to confirm every single staff member also has negative results and evaluate how we can move forward keeping our guests and staff safe. We know that the State and City will be announcing new restrictions this coming week so we will also be taking this all into consideration when deciding how best to continue protecting everyone. We will remain as transparent as possible and will of course make further announcements regarding the test results of the rest of our staff. We appreciate your understanding and support.
6/26/20 As of today no one from our restaurant, employee or guest has tested positive for Covid19 to our knowledge. We want to assure you that we a plan in place in the event that someone that has been in our restaurant tests positive. We do not take Covid19 lightly and will do what is necessary to assure we are doing everything we can to keep our staff and guests safe. This includes alerting the public, testing our entire staff and closing the doors for full sanitation and quarantining if this ever becomes a necessary reality. Please be assured that our first priority is everyone's safety.
Thank you for joining us today and supporting our small business. To ensure we are providing the safest environment possible there are a few things we would like you to know.
We have been open for the last two months serving meals to unemployed people in need as well as doing to go orders and delivery. We never closed and have adapted to a safer environment long before we were allowed to open so this is not a new change to us other than the ability to now serve a few guests in the restaurant. Everyone working here is doing so voluntarily and receive a daily screening before coming to work including temperature checks. We hope you will be patient and understanding with us and all businesses as we adjust and adapt to this new way of doing things. Our only goal is to continue doing what we love while keeping everyone as safe as possible.
We are diligently cleaning and disinfecting everything on a regular basis, especially after every use. Please be patient if we are busy as we need extra time for your safety.
We are screening guests as they come in to reduce the possibility of spreading Covid. That includes taking your temperature. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we try to do our best to protect our staff and guests. If you are running a fever or experiencing any cold/flu symptoms we ask that you remain outside to be served.
All tables are spaced 6ft apart and there is no bar seating. All parties who wish to sit together will need to all arrive and be seated at the same time. Reservations are encouraged.
Anyone coming inside will be asked to wear a mask while walking around the restaurant. Once you are seated and have drinks or food in front of you, it is okay to remove your mask.
Please respect social distancing of others and maintain a 6 foot distance from others not in your group.
If you need to get up to use the restroom or get up from the table, please put your mask back on.
Please let a staff member (host) if you need to use the restroom so we can make sure it is empty and has been sanitized before you use it.
You can purchase alcohol to go after dining but please remember that open container laws still apply and drinking in public is not allowed by ABC. You cannot take any alcohol or drinks you have already been served to go.
You can see our menu and order from your phone and pay online to reduce contact if you prefer. Just go to metlsd.com and click on the SEE MENU & ORDER button.
Again we appreciate your support and we happily welcome all feedback. Please let a staff member know if you have any suggestions or comments or email us at email@example.com
